ABOUT US
Las Vegas Barbell is a training facility for athletes looking to learn the proper techniques and programs associated with the sport of Olympic weightlifting. We offer small group training classes that consist of 5-12 athletes being instructed by a weightlifting coach in drills and exercises associated with the proper execution of weightlifting techniques.
Classes are instructed by our Head Coach, Billy Bybee, who is a national level weightlifting coach with 20 years of experience in the sport of weightlifting as well as general health and fitness.
We are excited to bring this unique training facility to the greater Las Vegas area and to improve the health and strength of its residents!
BILLY BYBEE, OWNER & HEAD COACH
Coach Billy has been in the business of training clients and athletes for twenty years. His experience ranges from personal training and one-on-ones for the everyday client, to writing and executing strength and conditioning programs for high-level athletes, including Olympians. Additionally, he has qualified athletes to the highest levels of achievement in the sport of Olympic weightlifting.
Coach Billy has been a multi-sport competitive athlete since the age of six and has been competing at the top tier of the US national competition scene for nearly ten years. At 36 years old, he is one of only a handful of athletes in his age range to continue to qualify in the top 10 at the national level season after season! This level of success even at an advanced age (for weightlifting) gives him unique insights in terms of recovery, management of training volume, and building durability for a career of healthy lifting.
Since the founding of Coach Billy's gym, Las Vegas Barbell, he has continued a tradition of excellence in developing athletes at all levels to achieve their best in the sport of weightlifting as well as general strength development. Within the first two years, he has attained USAW's National Coach ranking and qualified numerous athletes to both national and international qualification. While elite athletics is one part of a coaches focus, Coach Billy's greater pride is in having a gym full of ordinary people who lift extraordinarily well!

VANESSA SIMPSON, OWNER
Vanessa Simpson is a lifelong athlete and lover of physical fitness. Starting as a competitive martial artist at the age of 11 and having competed in multiple sports, she has always shown a passion for athletic excellence.
As an adult, Vanessa's love of sport and all physical challenges has guided her to a love of barbell training. This passion now extends to owning and operating Las Vegas Barbell with her partner, Billy. She is excited to be able to provide a safe, fun learning environment for all levels of athletes looking to better themselves through barbell training!

JENNIFER JAVIER, ASSISTANT COACH
Jennifer Javier has been participating and coaching in the sport of Weightlifting since 2011. While living in multiples states around the country, she has competed locally and coached extensively. Working and lifting in Washington, Oregon and Hawaii before relocating to Las Vegas, Nevada. She brings over a decade of experience in personal training, group training, Weightlifting, strength and conditioning and Crossfit. She has also used her experience and expertise to build Weightlifting programs from scratch within the gym communities she’s worked with in multiple states.
We are very fortunate to have Jen as a Coach here at Las Vegas Barbell! She brings a wealth of knowledge and passion for our sport and we’re excited to have her as a leader in our community!

DOUG PERUSSO, ASSISTANT COACH
Doug has been involved in Weightlifting for 8 years as an athlete and coach. Originally from the Philadelphia suburbs, Doug moved to Las Vegas to continue his personal training and coaching career. He grew up playing ice hockey at a high level for more than two decades before becoming a weightlifter, competing locally and nationally. Fitness and training has always been a part of his life, having incredible coaches and mentors through the years, he just wants to pay it forward to the next generation of our sport. Doug brings to the table his background in 1 on 1 personal training, group training, strength and conditioning, and coaching Weightlifting.
